Gunmen attacked railway station and kidnapped many passengers

Gunmen attacked the railway station in Igueben local government in Edo state in the south-south of Nigeria and kidnapped many passengers.

Reports say the incident happened when the passengers were about to board the train to Warri in Delta State.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police, Chidi Nwabuzor, said that so far they have not received any news of loss of life.

However, he confirmed that some of the passengers received gunshot wounds from the assailants.

He said gunmen armed with guns attacked the train station on Saturday evening, where they opened fire in the air before arresting many of the passengers.

The incident comes less than a year after terrorists believed to be members of the Boko Haram group attacked the train from Abuja to Kaduna in the north of the country and kidnapped many passengers, where they spent months. in the hands of the bandits.

The incident forced the country’s government to suspend flights between the two major cities for more than six months.
